Does Removing the Gemini Watermark Remove SynthID?

Short answer: no. Google marks Gemini, Nano Banana and Veo output in two separate ways, and a visible-watermark remover only touches one of them.
Two different watermarks
- The visible sparkle. A small ✦ logo blended into a corner of the image or video. You can see it, and it can be removed.
- SynthID. An invisible signal spread across the whole image or video. It is not a logo in a corner, it is not visible, and removing the sparkle does not affect it.
What our tool changes
The sparkle is mixed into the picture with a fixed transparency pattern. Our Gemini watermark remover reverses that mix inside the sparkle’s small square and leaves every other pixel untouched. So the content can still be identified as AI-generated by tools that check for SynthID.
Why we don’t try to remove SynthID
Invisible provenance signals exist so that AI-generated media can be recognised as such. Removing the visible logo is about a clean look for your own creations; stripping provenance is about hiding where content came from, and that is not something we support. Tools that claim to remove SynthID are either overstating what they do or degrading the image.
Do I still need to label AI content?
Often, yes. Many platforms and some laws require AI-generated or synthetic media to be disclosed, especially realistic video of people. Removing the sparkle doesn’t change those obligations.
