Gemini Watermark Still Showing? 7 Reasons and Fixes
Last updated 2026-10-21
Our Gemini watermark remover finds and reverses the sparkle automatically on original Gemini downloads. When it says “No Gemini sparkle in this file”, or a faint trace is left, one of these seven things is almost always the reason.
1. It’s a screenshot
A screenshot is a resized copy at your screen’s resolution, so the sparkle no longer has its original size or position. Fix: go back to Gemini and use the Download button, then try again with that file.
2. The image was resized or cropped
Editing apps, social networks and “compress” options change the pixel grid, and the automatic mode needs the sparkle to line up to the pixel (the exact sizes are listed here). Fix: use the original download. If you only have the edited copy, use Select area: paint over the sparkle and it is rebuilt from the surrounding pixels.
3. It was sent through a messaging app
WhatsApp, Messenger and similar apps re-compress images, which smears the sparkle’s edges. Fix: send yourself the file as a document, or download it from Gemini again on the device you’re using.
4. There is no sparkle
If Gemini’s Media watermark setting was Off when the image was made, it never had a sparkle, and there’s nothing to remove. Zoom into the bottom-right corner to check. More about that setting.
5. It’s a different mark
A text label, a logo from another tool, or a watermark added by an editing app isn’t the Gemini sparkle, so automatic mode can’t reverse it. Fix: switch to Select area and paint over the mark. This also works for other generators like Kling or Hailuo.
6. A faint outline is left
Heavily compressed JPEGs can leave a barely visible ghost of the sparkle’s edge, because compression has already changed those pixels slightly. Fix: run Select area over the leftover outline. It only rebuilds the pixels that still stand out, so the rest stays untouched.
7. The video won’t process
Video needs a browser with WebCodecs. Fix: update Chrome, Edge or Safari, or use a computer for long clips. If the sparkle isn’t detected in a Veo video, for example because the opening frames are very dark or bright, use Select area; the selection is applied to every frame.
What isn’t a problem
If a checker still says your image was made with AI, the tool is working as designed: it removes only the visible logo and leaves SynthID and the content credentials in place. Why we don’t remove SynthID.
