How to Remove the Gemini Watermark (Free, Step by Step)
Last updated 2026-10-21
Short answer: open our free Gemini watermark remover, drop in the image or video, and download the clean copy. The sparkle is found and removed automatically, the file never leaves your device, and the pixels under the logo are restored exactly instead of being painted over.
What you need
- The original file you downloaded from Gemini (not a screenshot, see why that matters).
- Any modern browser for images. For video, a current Chrome, Edge or Safari.
- Nothing else: no account, no app, no upload.
Step 1: Download the original from Gemini
In Gemini, open the image and use the Download button. This gives you the full-size file with the sparkle at its exact original position, which is what automatic removal relies on. Nano Banana and Nano Banana Pro images work the same way, and so do Veo videos made in the Gemini app.
Step 2: Drop it into the remover
Go to the Gemini sparkle remover and drag the file onto the box, or tap Choose a file. Within a second or two you should see “Gemini sparkle detected. Automatic removal is selected.”
Got several images? Select them all at once. Each one is cleaned in turn and you can download them together as a ZIP.
Step 3: Remove and check
Tick the box confirming the file is your own AI creation, then press the remove button. Drag the before/after slider over the bottom-right corner: the sparkle should be gone with no blur or smudge, because the tool reverses the way the logo was blended in rather than guessing what was underneath. Here’s how that works.
Step 4: Download
Choose a format (keeping the original format is the default) and download. Images keep their EXIF data, colour profile and content credentials. Videos come back as MP4 with the original audio track.
If no sparkle is found
The tool switches to Select area and pre-selects the bottom-right corner. Paint over whatever mark you can see and run it again. The most common causes are a screenshot or resized copy, or an image made with Gemini’s Media watermark setting switched off, in which case there’s nothing to remove. The troubleshooting guide covers every case.
Doing it on a phone?
It works in mobile browsers too. Follow the iPhone and Android guide, which explains how to pick the original file rather than a compressed copy.
What stays in place
Only the visible logo is removed. Google’s invisible SynthID watermark stays in the pixels, and an image’s content credentials are copied into the cleaned file, so it can still be identified as AI-generated. More on SynthID. Use the tool on images and videos you created yourself, and label AI content where your platform or local law asks you to.
